Since finishing the last book in the Harry Potter stories in 2007, J K Rowling has gone on to release many companion books. The latest additions to the wizarding world are the ‘Pocket Potter’ series. The first three books in the series were published in 2025 and featured Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The latest books published, in February 2026, highlight the characters Professor Dumbledore and Luna Lovegood. Another two, Hagrid and Dobby, are planned to be published in August 2026.
Each of these books has been beautifully presented by a range of artists. The first three books in the ‘Pocket Potters’ series have been illustrated by Natalia Smith, Laura Pioretti and Olia Muza respectively, while the latest two have been done by Paola Escobar (Professor Dumbledore) and Helen Brady (Luna Lovegood).
Hard-covered and with dimensions 22.5 x 18cm, I think it might be difficult to find any pocket, in the clothing range, large enough to house any of these books. Most probably they were made for pockets in bags.
These books are not what one might expect as they do not provide a storyline, but rather they are a collection of exciting story moments, quotes and fun information about much-loved members of Hogwarts. Each double page spread follows a particular theme or aspect of the character being highlighted. There are illustrations, small blocks of text or simple phrases. The font often varies in size across the page and arrows link text to illustrations. For some readers this could make the page somewhat confusing, looking more like a piece of paper filled with random reminders. Each page requires time to take in the information being presented but will trigger memories for devotees of the Harry Potter books or movies.
Each of these Pocket Potter books is a mini guide that’s perfect for collectors and fans alike. These editions make thoughtful gifts, are easy to take anywhere, and look great displayed together on a shelf.
Professor Dumbledore was the headmaster of Hogwarts. Information snippets are provided in this book about his skills and accomplishments, his magical phoenix companion, his relationship with Hagrid and his connections to Harry Potter.
Luna Lovegood, the second book published at this time, is a fellow student at Hogwarts, who Harry Potter met, on the train to the school, at the beginning of her fourth year. This book reminds the reader of her interactions with Harry and of her uniqueness, being one of a kind with her personality and skills.
The ‘Harry Potter’ series of books is widely recognised as the bestselling series of all time, selling more than 500 million copies worldwide, so these Pocket Potter books should find a ready market.
With fewer children today reading novels, illustrated books offer them a practical and joyful way to engage with literature and are invaluable in helping children build vocabulary, comprehension and boosting imagination. This belief is what inspired the “Pocket Potters” series.
I am sure they will attract many fans.
