NSW Premier’s Literary Awards 2024

The winners of the 2024 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards were announced on 20 May.

Ali Cobby Eckermann’s verse novel She Is the Earth won the overall $10,000 Book of the Year award, as well as the $30,000 Indigenous Writers’ Prize.

The winning titles in selected categories are:

Book of the Year ($10,000)

  • She Is the Earth (Ali Cobby Eckermann, Magabala)

Douglas Stewart Prize for Nonfiction ($40,000)

  • Ghosts of the Orphanage: A story of mysterious deaths, a conspiracy of silence, and a search for justice (Christine Kenneally, Hachette)

The winners, chosen from shortlists released earlier this month, were announced last night at the State Library of NSW.
