ABOUT THE BOOK

From the bestselling author of How to Kill a Client comes a page-turning rural thriller of loyalties and lies, murder and greed.

People like Dash didn’t die. He was only what? Mid-thirties? Well off. Adored. By some anyway. World at his feet. Well, Myddle at his feet, which was his world.

Ruth Dawson has taken a break from big city law to fill in for a few months at a mate’s small-town legal practice in Myddle. It’s not what she’s used to . . .

MONDAY 24 MARCH 2025 | INSTORE EVENT

6.00PM For a 6.30PM Start

Join us for the Brisbane Launch of Gutsy Girls by Josie McSkimming. Josie will be joined by Carody Culver.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Dorothy Porter was one of Australia’s most charismatic and courageous literary figures. Achieving broader fame through her bestselling queer crime verse novel, The Monkey’s Mask, and its film adaptation, she took poetry and performance to new heights.

Her younger sister, Josie McSkimming, watched Dot become an award-winning poet, but it was a family of complex dynamics. Born to renowned barrister Chester Porter, Dot, Josie and their sister, Mary, grew up in an unpredictable family home on Sydney’s northern beaches. Each forged her own impressive career, but Josie and Dot sought very different escapes from their formidable father. Josie fell into (and out of) evangelical Christianity and psychotherapy while Dot found ‘the Arts’ and sex.

With unprecedented access to Porter’s personal diaries and letters, Gutsy Girls is an intimate story of sisterhood, finding creative power and blazing your own trail.

Join us on Wednesday 5 March at 6.30pm to hear debut crime writer Laura McCluskey speak to Poppy Gee about her novel, The Wolf Tree.

About the Book….

On a small island off the coast of Scotland, an isolated community is grieving. Eighteen-year-old Alan Ferguson was found at the foot of the lighthouse – an apparent suicide.

DIs Georgina Lennox and Richard Stewart are sent to investigate. A raging storm keeps them trapped on the island for five days. And the locals don’t take kindly to mainlanders. As George and Ritchie question the island’s inhabitants, they discover a village filled with superstition and shrouded in secrets.
