We’re Going on a Treasure Hunt is a hard-paged square children’s book by Martha Mumford and illustrated by Laura Hughes.
There is much about this book that would engage young readers. The illustrations are colourful and humorous as they depict the adventures of four bunnies in their search to find treasure.
Readers are encouraged to help them search and on each page there are lift-up flaps which might reveal some treasure. One of these reveals a very big surprise. There are lots of words with interesting, repeated sounds which can add interest for the reader’s presentation to young children.
The bunnies are dressed as pirates and as they sail off on their adventure, they encounter many sea creatures and interesting wildlife on the island where they land. In this respect, the story is educational as well as funny. I’m sure all readers will enjoy the antics of the naughty monkeys.
They are looking for ten gold coins to find and count.
The Bunny Adventures series is the perfect collection for young children, full of exciting adventures, fun lift-the-flap pages, and made of very sturdy paper for little hands. They would make a lovely collection to return to often. Both author and illustrator are well known in the publishing industry for their work.
A lovely board book for young children.
